Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Her parents had divorced and they moved together with their mother into Los Angeles. She landed her debut role, as Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. The TV film Murder in Greenwich where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004, as well as sharing a Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) alongside her. The character she plays is Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. The year 2009 was the time she received a nomination for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mom on screen in Crazy Heart. Following that she continued to play in comedies as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (12). Her other roles include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in Frank (2014) as well as the title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021 with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
